More Than Good Manners provides specialist accommodation, tours and
guiding services as well as a range of other activities and services. We
offer our guests unique opportunities to experience British heritage,
culture, lifestyle and activities associated with country life and ‚high
society‘ life, historical and Royal Britain. Our goal is to share these
personally in an informal, accessible and enjoyable way. More Than Good
Manners is personally owned, founded and managed by myself, Veronica
Joly de Lotbinière and all tours and other services provided are either
hosted by myself or one of my knowledgeable and experienced team (which
includes qualified German speaking guiding services).
More Than
Good Manners can arrange accommodation at a range of castles, stately
homes, town houses and country houses around Britain either as a hosted
guest or on an exclusive rental basis. Many of the properties that More
Than Good Manners works with are family homes where a stay will give you
a fascinating insight into traditional British country life. One such
property is Inveraray Castle, located in the West of Scotland. Home to
the Duke of Argyll, Inveraray Castle is a remarkable and unique piece of
architecture. This unmistakably Scottish Castle was the first of its
size and type to be built (at the time of construction) in an extremely
remote part of Scotland.
More Than Good Manners can arrange
accommodation in Inveraray Castle on a sole hire basis for small private
and corporate groups. We can also arrange typical Scottish country
pursuits such as shooting, fishing, trout and salmon fishing and
deerstalking either on Inveraray Castle’s estates or nearby. More Than
Good Manners also organises tailor made personally escorted tours and
organises other ground arrangements in Scotland.
Some of bespoke
services we have arranged for clients in Scotland include ‚insider‘
tours taking in Royal Residences associated with Scottish and British
royalty, including Edinburgh Castle, Holyrood House, Stirling Castle,
Balmoral Castle, Glamis Castle, ancestral home of H.M Queen Elizabeth
the Queen Mother and Castle of Mey (her private residence in later
life). We can also organise whisky distillery tours, whisky tasting
sessions and offer our clients a very unique Scottish experience – The
‚Macnab‘!
The MacNab originates from a Scottish
Poacher/challenger, John MacNab – who delivered a challenge note to
three Scottish landowners declaring that he and two of his friends were
going to poach two deer and a salmon off their land without being
caught. The landowners hired guards 24 hours a day and rated MacNab’s
success as one in one hundred. More Than Good Manners offers the
opportunity for guests to take part in our own seasonal version of The
MacNab…
Summer MacNab – The Mission:
- to catch a trout or pike
- to shoot a pigeon
- a game of tennis, croquet or a round of golf
Winter MacNab – The Mission:
- to shoot a pigeon
- to catch a trout or pike
- to shoot a muntjac deer
All carried out within 24 hours and the game you shoot or catch will be included in the evening’s dinner menu.
Manners and Etiquette ‚The British Way‘ with More Than Good Manners
We
also organise ‚business etiquette courses‘ for corporate clients and
more informal manners and etiquette sessions for individuals wanting to

society‘ and host personally escorted visits to exclusive events such
