What is >glampingglamorous camping<, for people who have a sense of adventure, but do not want to camp and have to take their tent all the way from home. Glamping enthusiasts also prefer a solid roof over their heads and comfortable surroundings, but still want to be close to nature. Glamping is also very good value for money.
The pods (which are also called micro-lodges or yurts or teepees) can be quite basic – space for sleeping bags, a microwave and a kettle – or they can be much more luxurious, with proper beds (single and double) or a sofa bed, plus en-suite toilet and shower room, microwave, kettle, and television. There may be a verandah, a barbecue area, seating right outside and space nearby for your car. Although the luxury pods have a shower/toilet room, basic pods do not, but the shower block will be nearby. You can take your pick from the very basic pod to an extra-luxurious micro-lodge! Pods usually have space for 2, 4 or 6 people. You will probably need to bring your own sleeping bag or linen, towels, and cooking and eating utensils, but the park will tell you when you contact them.
Glamping is also great for families; the parents or grandparents can have comfort, but the kids have the adventure of so-called >camping<. Plenty of pods can take four people and some even have bunk beds. Although glamping is a form of camping, you need to book in advance, whether for one night or several nights. The prices are very reasonable – from £35 per pod per night and upwards, depending on the number of people, the season and the facilities provided. You can book for only one night, but in the main season, there may be a minimum of two nights required. There are discounts for stays of 3 to 7 nights. Not all caravan parks have pods, so be sure to plan your tour, before you leave home.
Glamping pods can be found on several Thistle Holiday Parks. Details – from the basic to the luxurious – can be found under »Links zum Artikel« on the right-hand side.
Enjoy your glamping tour in Scotland!
